Elias meets his match

While we were at the park today, Elias met his match.  He walked up to another little boy and asked him if he's like to play tag.  The boy looked at him and without hesitation responded, "how about you be joker and I'll be batman?" 
No way, Is it possible that Elias met someone who is obsessed with batman as much as he is?  I was giggling inside.  In that split second, I knew Elias has met his new best friend.  Elias responded that he had the Lego Batman video game and therefore he himself should be batman.  The other little boy did not agree.  After a short going back and forth, Elias presented the idea that there could be two batmans.  Way to go buddy, way to compromise.  They ran around and played "batman" for the next half hour.  It was such a joy to watch him and this little friend thoroughly enjoy each other and speak each others language. 

Thankful

My kids and I did a fun Thanksgiving craft today in whcih we are able to write the things we were most thankful for.  I was happy to see, Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, House, Family, Eyes, Ears, Head, Batman, JJ... but then Emma pulled one on me....

Fall is finally here

I know, I know, you never thought you'd hear those words come outta my mouth, right?  Well, we have had this weird transition this year, here in the bay area, from Summer to Fall.  Two days ago, it was 95 degrees, and today we have a high of 60 degrees.  I have this weird feeling that we will get back up there in those hot temps at least once more before fall officially starts.  ARGH.
Don't get me wrong, Summer is still my favorite season, but when you are in the 90's for a couple weeks straight and there is no air conditioner to speak of in your home, summer can get a bit toasty.  So, I welcome the cooler temps and the change of season.
I absolutely love October.  It's one of my favorite months of the year, it must be that it kinda starts the fun holiday season.  My family and I are big into Halloween.  I love decorating, celebrating, trick or treating, crafting, cooking, and baking for Halloween.   My kids already both have their entire Halloween costumes picked out and ready to go.  And they started planning what to be a couple of months ago.   And then who doesn't love a Thanksgiving feast, and Christmas Morning?  Ahh, I can't wait.
Anywho, wellcome fall, glad to see you finally have arrived, if only for a short while!

Another pillow project

So with the kids back to school, I feel like I am able to get back into my sewing hobby.  I decided to drop by the thrift store to see if they had any hidden treasures.  I came across two nautica linen pillowcases.  Score, for 50 cents each, I thought I was pretty thrifty.  I am amazed at what a simple pillowcase can be transformed into.  It's just the right amount of fabric to make a simple skirt, shorts, or pants.

About 2 hours of work later, I had these, my first pair of pants for my little guy.  I am pretty proud of them, although, they come off very casual, almost lounge wear looking.  But, with the right shirt, I hope they are wearable as a semi-casual pant. I was able to use the opening of the pillow case to create a cuff-looking hem on the pants.  Really handsome.

Elias is just happy to see anything made for him.  And I love to see him in my creations.  Of course, I need to give credit to MADE because I once again used her pattern for the long flat front pant.
